11 Amazing Books

Everybody loves to read fiction, Nonfiction is o.k. if you need the information but for a good story it has to have some magic a few wizards and a dragon in it (At least that’s what I think). Here are some of my favorite fantasy books and why I like them. Some of them are pretty well known and liked but hopefully you will find an interesting one to put on your must read list. I lined them up from very amazing to really amazing (Haha).

Percy Jackson & the Olympians

1st book- The Lightning Thief

Author- Rick Riordan

# of books in series- 5

This is a great series of books that I think are not only fun to read but also very educational about the Greek gods. So you get to read an awesome action packed adventure that has fighting, monsters and demigods in it but as a bonus the next time someone asks you who the Greek god of war is you can tell them. (It’s Ares for anyone who's curious)

Fablehaven

1st book in series- Fablehaven

Author- BrandonMull

# of books in series- 5

I think that these books are great because they are so attention holding, I mean you know how people describe good books by saying they cant stop reading them, well, I really could not stop reading. It is yet again another different look at an author’s view of magical creatures. These books are packed with all the magical creatures expected (and some unexpected) but it has different twists to them. Also it is cool because you can really see how it’s just two ordinary kids that get wrapped up in all the magic. This is a nice rounded series that should be on your book list.

Pendragon

1st book in series- The Merchant of Death

Author- D.J. MacHale

# of books in series- 10 and also a 3 book companion series

So say you’re just a regular person (like most of us) and then you uncle drags you through a Flume (portal) to another world were you have to save every body on that planet from an evil spirit. Sounds pretty interesting because this is what happens to Bobby Pendragon in the Merchant of Death. This is a very interesting series because of all the very different places Bobbies adventures take him. It is cool to see the different people from all the places. If you like stories with a bunch of action, high stakes and a guy with a very cool last name this is the story for you (even if you don’t you should still read it). :)

Rangers Apprentice

1st book in series- The Ruins of Gorlan

Author- John Flanagan

# of books in series- 10 books are out and John Flanagan is still not sure when the series will end. An 11th book is coming soon.

This is an awesome series. The setting is in a place that is like a medieval earth (but much cooler). The main character is will. Will gets selected to be a ranger which is an elite group of archers that keep peace. The books are about Wills many cool adventures. It is a very good series because of the way you see will grow up. In the first couple of books he’s apprentice then he’s a full ranger and so on. This is a great series and I really suggest reading it.

Septimus Heap

1st book in series- Magyk

Author- Angie Sage

# of books in series- 5

These books follow Septimus Heap from living in the poor part of town to being an apprentice wizard and then a full wizard. This series is very remarkable because of how different the books are with there own themes and ideas. It never gets boring reading these because you change perspective of people and the places and situations they are in so much from book to book. This is definitely a worth while read if you like fantasy.

Dragonlance Chronicles

1st book in series- Dragons of Autumn Twilight

Authors- Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman

# of books in series- There are 4 books in the Dragonlance chronicles (which is a good place to start) but there are like 50 other books that are in different sub series but are the same world. For a full list visit this site- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Dragonlance_novels

These two authors are very established and can really write a good book. The dragonlance chronicles are about a group of adventurers (half elf, dwarf, Kender, knight and who ever else they pick up on the way) who live in the world of krynn. There was a huge cataclysm 300 yrs ago and ever since the god have been absent from krynn. Evil is ruling and bandits are every where. Soon an evil dragon army is almost in control of krynn. This group of adventurers is captured escape and tries to find the true gods and to find peace with them selves. This is a very good series with all the fantasy aspects. I would definitely suggest reading this if you want a series that has plenty of books to keep you entertained for a long while.

Artemis Fowl

1st book in series- Artemis Fowl

Author- Eoin Colfer

# of books in series- 7 and the 8th and last book will be coming out in 2012, Titled The Last Guardian

Artemis Fowl is an evil genius. It is very cool that the story is told from the perspective of the so called bad guy. I think this is a great series because of how well thought out it is; you really think Artemis is a genius because the ideas in this book are very thought out and smart. It has a lot of different scenarios and kinds of relationships, like for example between Artemis and hisButler. This is yet another really great series to consider.

The Roar

1st book- The Roar

Author- Emma Clayton

# of books in series- 1 and there is rumored to be a second one in future

This is a pretty cool book. It is a highly exiting and thought provoking book that is based in a future Londonthat is surrounded by wall to keep them safe from an animal plague or so they think. The roar is an amazing adventure as Mika (12) tries to rescue his sister who has been thought dead. This book has a few themes from Enders Game but is definitely an amazing action packed original. This book is very well written, an enjoyable read, and will keep you captivated till the end.

Bartimaeus Trilogy

1st book- The Amulet of Samarkand

Author- Jonathan Stroud

# of books in series- 3

Now this amazing 3 book series is absolutely stupendous. It has such an involving plot and magical feeling it just sucks you in. One of the things I liked about it is that it seemed like a very well rounded book series, I mean it has a beginning and then by the last book it has an ending. Not like some of those series that just keep dragging on or the ones that leave you hanging. It is about the adventures of a demon and his wizard "master". I would highly suggest reading this book.

Harry Potter

1st book- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Author- J.K. Rowling

# of books in series- 7

Harry Potter has rocked the genre of fantasy and is very well known throughout the world. This book is definitely at the top of many readers favorites list. I really enjoyed the series because of the amazingly in depth plot and characterization. I also like how J.K. Rowling makes every thing fit almost seamlessly throughout this gigantic 7 book series. If you have not read this series, drop everything and read it right now. (:

The Inheritance Cycle

1st book- Eragon

Author- Christopher Paolini

# of books in series- 4

This is my very favorite book series that I have ever read. It is simply fantastic. It gives you a unique and well written look at the perfect fantasy book (you know: dragons, magic, elves, dwarfs, etc.) but makes it so realistic and great. The very young author Christopher Paolini can really put together a good story. The series is complete and contains four books. The series was originaly a trilogy but the third book grew to large so it was changed to the inheritance cycle. I was just glad becouse it meant there was another book in the series that i could read. So if you are going to read one of the books on this list, a real good choice would be Eragon.

Comment if you think that there is a book I should read. (I need suggestions :)

I know it seems like I am just Highly suggesting every single one but i really am, these are very good books.

So happy to see that the Twilight saga (since some consider it a fantasy-romance hybrid) is not among these books (which have actual character development and plot). Thank you for suggesting REAL literature for teens to read :)

Animorphs was my favorite growing up. I do think your wrong about there not being much great about the series. Some of the characters (like rachel) went to pretty dark place. But I forgive you since you also love eragon. :)

except the movie really dissapointed, just like the animorphs tv series

Yess! Rangers apprentice was an awesome series. This is a good list!

rangers apprentice is a great series, but it moves away from any fantasy aspects around the the first two books (with the death of morgarath), unlike any of the other books on the list it has a lack of any real magic or dragons, dungeons .etc with the exception of morgoraths evil forces (kalkara, wargals) and the rangers go further and disprove that the magic exists (book 5 and 8) but still a must read

Yea it does not have any magic or dragons in it but i think there is a little magic in what the rangers do, even though it is technically just skill.

Haha... I've read almost all of those books and I think they're all pretty good (especially The Hunger Games, The Bartimaeus Trilogy, and Harry Potter).

Another fantasy book I loved was Graceling, by Kristin Cashore. I would reccomend reading it!

The hunger games, Harry Potter, and Fablehaven are my favorites from your list. There's a website that I think you might really like: http://www.goodreads.com This is basically a giant website with a collection of pretty much every book you can think of, and what you do is go through and add books to your "already read" list, your "to read" list, and recommend books to others. You can also add a rating to the books you've read and let people know how much you enjoy them. Check it out!

All I need to say is that you MUST read

Peter and the Starcatchers (trilogy I think) Barry something

Airborn (Trilogy) Kenneth Oppel

Both of these are the best books I've ever read and I've read almost all the books on your list and thoroughly enjoyed them. If you only bother to read one, then read Airborn it is the better.
